When the holiday decorations are up, downtown Decatur sparkles with endless twinkly lights and dozens of glittering storefronts. You are invited to enjoy the Indie-catur holiday experience with festivities on the square, and local cheer throughout the season.

November Shopping Promo

Spend $200 in any city of Decatur shop in November (excludes restaurants) and bring your receipt(s) to the Visitors Center throughout the month, or to the tent on the square during Small Business Saturday and Sunday to receive a $20 local restaurant gift card. Limited to three gift cards per person. Offer ends Nov. 30.

 

Small Business Saturday + Santa on the Square | Saturday, Nov. 24

Bring that gift list and check it twice! “Shop small” for gifts at city of Decatur businesses and then head to the tent on the square to get your purchases expertly gift- wrapped for free! Bring your retail receipts totaling $200 or more to the tent or the Decatur Visitors Center to receive a free $20 gift certificate from one of many local restaurants.

 

Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy fresh-baked cookies, have some milk, and take a photo with Santa! Register for this free event at freshtix.com so we have plenty of cookies and milk for everyone. Sponsored by Decatur Business Association and Downtown Development Authority.

Need a Lyft? Small Business Saturday is partnering with Lyft to provide transportation to and from Decatur square on Nov. 24 between 10 am and 11 pm. Enter the code, SMBUSDEC1 , into the Promos section of the app before requesting your ride. The credit will be displayed on the ride payment screen. 

Tree Lighting | Thursday, Dec. 6

There's a new location for this Decatur tradition. Enjoy holiday carols, hot cocoa and “snow.” At 7 p.m. sharp, Santa himself flips the switch to light the tree on the eastern end of the MARTA plaza (Church Street side).

 

Grand Menorah Lighting | Sunday, Dec. 2

Join in the Chanukah celebration on the square at 4:30-6:30 p.m. Enjoy hot drinks, latkes, music, and photos with Mr. Dreidel! Chabadintown.org has the details.

 

Bonfire + Marshmallow Roast on the Square | Thursday, Dec. 13

Roast a marshmallow (or two) around a roaring bonfire, 7-8 p.m. Register for this free event at freshtix.com so we have plenty of marshmallows for everyone! Hosted by the Decatur Business Association and supervised by the Decatur Fire Department.

The 2018 Decatur Holiday Ornament

This year's ornament, created by artist Natty Michelle Paperie, is perfect for your holiday décor – or to give! They are available for purchase at the Decatur Visitors Center and local shops including Wild Oats and Billy Goats, HomeGrown, Little Shop of Stories, Worthmore Jewelers, Found Co., and Trinity Mercantile and Design. This is the seventh collection of handcrafted ornaments commissioned by the Decatur Tourism Bureau and the Decatur Arts Alliance. All proceeds go toward the 2019 ornament.
