Start your ATL adventures here! Decatur’s just six miles east of downtown.

Decatur’s bursting with things to do all year round, and we’re just six miles east of Atlanta making our city the perfect starting point for exploring all of metro Atlanta.

With three MARTA rail stations within our city limits, downtown Atlanta is a quick trip away; no car needed! Check out the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, and National Center for Civil and Human Rights right by Centennial Olympic Park. Head to Mercedes Benz Stadium for a star-studded concert or Atlanta United soccer match. The CNN Center MARTA Rail Station is within walking distance to all downtown’s main attractions.

In Midtown, enjoy a show at the Fox Theatre or the exhibits at the High Museum of Art (free entry on second Sundays). The North Avenue MARTA station is closest to the Fox and Arts Center Station is by the High Museum.

Visit the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, which includes the home where Dr. King was born, Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King preached, and his gravesite and memorial; it’s a few blocks from King Memorial MARTA Rail Station.

Venture out in the opposite direction to Stone Mountain. It’s a short 20-minute trip by car. Avid biker? The Georgia PATH connects Decatur to the park.  Make a stop in Avondale at the original Waffle House, now the Waffle House Museum; private tours available on request. The DeKalb Farmers Market and Kudzu Antiques stand just outside our city borders, and are worth a visit.

Take the free CCTMA shuttle to Emory University to explore the campus and visit the Michael C. Carlos Museum.
