The Decatur Tourism Bureau is a 501(c)6 organization that promotes tourism and visitors to the City of Decatur. It is funded with a portion of the hotel/motel taxes collected within the City of Decatur.
The Tourism Bureau was established in December 2008 and received its 501(c)6 status in 2009. The Decatur City Commission designated the Tourism Bureau as the official agency for the expenditure of the City's hotel/motel tax funds for the purpose of promoting tourism and attracting visitors to the city.
The bureau promotes tourism through this website dedicated to tourism, visitors, conventions, meetings and events; printing and distributing guides, brochures and "Go Local" itineraries that showcase shops, restaurants and services; contacting meeting planners and other groups to encourage them to host their events in Decatur facilities; supporting year-round events including the Decatur Arts Festival, the AJC Decatur Book Festival, and more.
